About Montego Bay
Montego Bay is Jamaica’s second city and the centre of its tourism industry. It differs from the island’s other cruise calls in one practical way that matters to a group: Sangster International Airport is about 6 km from the pier, so this is the Jamaican port where flying in or out around a sailing is realistic.
The cruise berth sits in the Montego Freeport on a peninsula southwest of the town centre. It is a working commercial port, not a resort district, and there is nothing to walk to — every plan here starts with a taxi or a coach.
Doctor’s Cave Beach on the Hip Strip is the classic Montego Bay beach day. The water is calm and clear, entry is gentle, and it is close enough to the pier that a group can go independently without the timing risk that a long excursion carries.
Rose Hall Great House, east of town, is a restored Georgian plantation house with a well-known ghost story attached. The house tour is a straightforward, air-conditioned hour and works for groups that want history without a hike.

How ships berth here
Ships berth in the Montego Freeport, a commercial port area on a peninsula southwest of the town. It is a walk-off berth, but the town is not walkable from it — a taxi is required.

The pier is step-free but isolated, so every shore plan begins with a vehicle. Doctor’s Cave Beach has step access to the water.
